Responsibilities

The members of the Board of Directors represent the leaders of Rainbow and AATAT and are charged with overseeing the use of Measure 49 funds. Passed in 2011, this student fee supports CAD programming and sponsorship of other campus cultural organizations, state-of-the-art theatrical equipment, staffing, and free entry to all CAD programs for undergraduates. The Board meets weekly to evaluate funding requests for other organizations, organizational programs, speakers and lecturers, and other events. They are advised by non-voting staff.

Member Biographies

Bene’t Benton is a third year Theatre major with a minor in Black Studies. They have a background in spoken word poetry and has performed professionally all over California. They previously served on the CADrc Board of Directors in 2020-2021 as the Treasurer, and co-directed Rainbow Theater’s Poet’s Corner in the Spring of 2020 and 2021. They currently serve as the Chair for the CADrc Board of Directors at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In their free time they enjoy cooking and spending time with loved ones, including their black cat Opie. (they/them)
Rebecca Hall is a third year Psychology major with a Theater Arts minor. She co-directed Rainbow Theater’s Latinx show in 2021 after having acted/participated in the 2020 Latinx show as well as Poet’s Corner. She is an Aries who is passionate about organization and celebrating community, so she is excited to serve as the Secretary for the CADrc Board of Directors. She hopes to eventually work as a therapist and advocate for equality of mental health resources. (she/her)
Junebug Sonnenberg is a 2nd year Film and Digital Media major. They first worked with CADrc during Rainbow Theatre’s 2020 production, and now hold the position of Treasurer. Their career goals are to become an Oscar-winning Cinematographer as well as a role model and mentor for other Black kids trying to make their mark through film. (they/them)
Yazlin Juarez is a third year Literature major at UC Santa Cruz. After participating in Poet's Corner in 2020, she now holds a position as Historian and Marketing Director. She considers herself “jack of all trades, master of none,” of poetry, music, baking, and photography. After graduating, she dreams of owning a bakery and publishing poetry. (she/they)
Zoe Adams is a second year theatre arts major. They have been involved in one production through Rainbow Theatre during spring quarter of freshman year. They are ecstatic to serve on the board as the Ambassador of Ethnic Organizations for CAD and the vice chair of Rainbow Theater. Their goals are to become a prop master or set designer for major theatre productions. (they/them)
Jordan Noelte happens to be a 4th year studying Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has spent the past 3 years as a tech hand and stage manager for Rainbow Theatre and now serves as the CAD Stevenson Liaison. They love going to the beach and eating good food with loved ones. Jordan believes that theatre has the power to move and change people in the most beautiful ways.
John Bennett is a fourth year CRES Major at UF Santa Cruz. His career started as an AATAT student actor, they are now acting as one of the Outreach Coordinators. The role involves reaching out to both organizations on campus, and high schools with the intention of granting opportunities to low income students.
Sara Rose is a second year Theatre Arts major at UCSC. She worked in Rainbow Theatre’s Indigenous production this past spring. They were drawn to Rainbow Theatre because of its strong community and goals. They are excited to venture off and explore their many interests including singing, poetry, dance, acting, film and more.
August Stevens is a fourth year Film and Political Science major. She works as a Production Coordinator for the Cultural Arts and Diversity Resource Center. Her true love is music, which she will pursue after graduating. Her ultimate goal is to launch her own film and music production company and then retire to the rolling hills of Ireland where she will open the first black owned pub that obviously will have the best music and food.
Sherry Zhu is a fourth year at UCSC majoring in Economics and Critical Race & Ethnic Studies. They got involved with Cultural Arts & Diversity through Rainbow Theatre, specifically Poet’s Corner and tech(ish) crew. They are inspired by the community CAD creates for BIPOC students at UCSC and hope to expand the family in the years to come. Their goals for the future are currently a question mark, but probably law school eventually.

Diamond Moore is a second year Film and Digital Media, and Art and Design: Games and Playable Media duo major with a minor in Theater Arts. She joined ATTAT her freshman year and is now the Vice Chair for ATTAT. She continues to work with CAD, ATTAT and Rainbow Theater through CUIP (Chancellor Undergrad Internship Program) developing an archive of their 30 years at UCSC. She hopes to enter the film industry to share stories that will inspire people with similar life experiences and to educate those unfamiliar.
